The story about the deer is heartbreaking in this article on police S.W.A.T. teams.. I don’t like the implications for people who, as artist Willie Nelson puts it, use medical marijuana responsibly. I think that it’s the mirror battle of the war on terror, but being not about economics but instead what is social image. It’s setting them up to police people for innocuous drug habits, including the growing of certain drugs, well into our children’s lifetimes until legislation/social reforms then may finally change things. What crime? Just my opinion..
..SWAT team activity has increased by 1,500%. It’s not that life has gotten that much more dangerous, it’s that authorities have chosen to respond to even innocent situations as if they were in a warzone. The problem is not contained to urban areas, either. A full 80% of towns with 25,000 to 50,000 residents now have their own SWAT teams, up from just 13% in the 1980s..
